We are very pleased to offer for sale what is probably the finest 1962 Austin Healey 3000 BT7 Tri-Carb available anywhere in the world. The ownership is documented from the first owner to the current owner. This car was an exceptional low miles matching number example even before it underwent a full chassis up restoration. Completed in the original colors that it was delivered new in. The Heritage report, ownership history and full photo documentation of restoration is included with the car.

Well over 1000 hours and more than $100,000 was spent on the car to insure this is the finest around. Body and paintwork are absolute perfection and was done by a single craftsman who would be best described as meticulous. After the bodywork and chassis on this car was chemically stripped to bare metal, every panel was test fitted, straightened and all repairs were metal finished so that they are undetectable from the inside, outside, top, or bottom. The chassis was excellent to start with, but to insure it would last decades more it received new rockers. Any sign of corrosion or questionable metal was cut out replaced with steel. Every repair and weld was done and finished both sides and installed to be undetectable. All this without using any filler. Even the main frame rails were straightened, metal finished, sanded and blocked, then finished to a standard that is only used by Pebble Beach show cars. Once the chassis was perfect, each and every body panel was again fitted numerous times to get perfect gaps. The car has much better fit than any Austin Healey has ever had from the factory. The doors open and close without drama. The boot and bonnet lids fit the flawless aluminum shrouds perfectly. All panels were then epoxy primed blocked painted and finished smooth and show quality inside and outside to the highest level again without using plastic fillers of any kind.

It is difficult to convey the level of detail and workmanship that this car and its components received. The paint is a rich shade of Healey Blue that was specially mixed and applied to avoid the wet look of modern base-coat clear-coat materials. It duplicates paint work of the period and has the look of fine porcelain. Perfection was the goal and arguably it was achieved with the paint and bodywork. If you rub your finger inside of the fenders it has the same smoothness and feel as the exterior finish.

Body and Chrome:

The car has the best panel fit of any Healey out there. All metal finished body and chassis with no plastic fillers anywhere. The chrome is all triple plate and the blue paint is spectacular in color hue and quality of finish.


New interior with leather seat covers and everything recovered or replace to original pattern. Trunk is finished with proper Hardura materials. Expensive cloth tonneau cover and new side curtains in special pouch. Top is new and unused. Fitted with upgraded stereo and speakers in specially made boxes behind the seats.


Every mechanical component on the car received the same attention to detail and is finished in the same way. The original engine was fully rebuilt with all moving wear items replaced with new parts including .030 pistons and all internal components. The cylinder head received hard seats and uprated valves for unleaded use. All machine work was done to restore all factory tolerances. Before assembly the entire rotating assembly was completely balanced including the new 10 inch clutch components. The transmission and overdrive were fully rebuilt and work smoothly. The differential was removed and all parts were inspected and replaced as needed and the housing was cleaned until spotless, and then show painted in black enamel. The entire front suspension was rebuilt, rebushed and show painted before assembly to chassis. Even the steering box received the same tear down and rebuild. Not a single bracket or part was overlooked. Besides being made to function correctly, all items were restored in finish. Zinc plated, primed and show painted with catalyzed black paint or polished or show chromed depending upon their function and location on the car. A new wiring harness was fitted and all electrical items function.

This car and its components were restored to last far into the future. The car starts and drives as well as it looks. It has been driven approximately 2,000 miles since built, but still looks like new. Since everything is as new, it drives like a new Austin Healey. It exudes quality with paint and chrome work that just glow even in low light. A car that would be a great addition to any collection.

Wheels and Tires:

Chrome wire wheels are fitted with stainless spokes and 5 matching tires. Trued and balanced well so it runs smooth at speed.


1962 was the final year of the true British roadsters and the only year of triple carbs on Austin Healeys. If you are looking for an extremely well taken care of car and a perfectly documented Healey 3000, this is your car.
