Offered for sale is a restored 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV with rare factory sunroof. These are wonderful driving cars that were quite advanced for their time with 4 wheel disc brakes and a factory 5 speed transmission. The handling is excellent and predictable. This particular car has come from sunny and dry Arizona where it was fully restored from an obviously well taken care of car. It is fitted with a rare set of German ATS alloy wheels which are in near new condition. The entire car is in excellent condition and ready to drive anywhere. It is obvious that lots of money and time has been lavished on this car and it would be near impossible to find another sunroof car in this condition.

Paint & Body

Excellent body that retains all it’s original floors and panels. It has been refinished very well in the original rich and attractive Burgundy color. We have only seen 4 factory sunroof cars in nearly 30 years of buying and driving Alfa’s. This does appear to be a factory installed, solid steel sunroof. It works well and adds a brightness to the car interior when opened. All the floors including the trunk are solid and it is apparent the car spent its life in a dry climate. All the stainless trim is very nice and the car really has a great even presentation. The only modification to the stock body and trim is the over-riders that have been left off for a smoother look. They are present and could be fitted if new rubber trim is sourced.

This interior has been fully restored in a lovely saddle brown color and all seats and door panels look like factory new. The headliner is excellent and the original pattern. The front and rear seats have been recovered with the factory original type seats covers and are well fitted. A dash cap has been fitted to the top of the dash and the wood panels have been all replaced so the car looks factory new inside. It is hard to get pictures that do the interior justice.

Engine & Transmission

The engine is rebuilt and retains the original Spica fuel injection. It starts easily even from cold, and runs smoothly all the way to redline. It is a stock rebuild so no lumpy cams or modifications, and it has a nice flexible power and quiet running as it was new. The drive train is as solid and nice driving as only good examples of these cars can be. A new complete stock exhaust system has been installed to keep the car quiet. The mechanicals will give years of reliable service.

The Bottom Side

These Alfa GTV’s are so collectible that they far exceed the value of the convertible Alfa’s of the same period. The 72-74 cars have a standard equipment list that BMW 2002 owners wish they had gotten from the Germans. A wonderful free revving twin cam engine, four wheel disc brakes, 5-speed overdrive transmission and factory limited slip differential came standard on all the 2 litre cars built only 1972-1974. It is rare to find one done to this level and this car would be a great first collector car or addition to any garage. A ready to drive and enjoy car, with a proper and solid restoration, on a rare sunroof car. This car is priced very reasonably and cannot be duplicated for the reserve price. Car is offered for sale on our showroom floor locally, so do not wait to bid. Once the car meets its reserve, we will let it run until complete sale on E-bay. We will be happy to discuss the reserve, or a Buy-it-Now option once you have placed a bid on the car.
